How to Contribute Better to Your Community?

15.03.2022

For many people, COVID-19 has made us rethink our priorities and brought us closer to our local community. We have seen and continue to hear about many ‘good news stories’. However, many of us want to jump in and contribute better to our community, but we don’t know where to start. Take a look below for some of our ideas.

  1. Volunteer

Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community. Whether in a hospital, a food bank, a senior’s home or an animal shelter, there are tons of local organizations that would love for you to help them out. You can do some research online or directly contact the organization you are interested in helping.

  1. Organize a Charitable Event

Find a good cause, and use your time & energy to raise some money for it. It doesn’t even have to be money – one good idea is to collect old but still-working electronic items, and organize an event to clean them up and repair them. After that, you can donate them or sell them to raise money. You could also collect food donations for a local food bank. Reach out to a local charity and see what they need.

3.Donate blood

Donating blood is beneficial for both our local and international community. Even one donation could save many lives, and every donation makes a difference to someone’s life somewhere. Plus, at the end of every donation they’ll give you some juice and cupcakes. What’s more, to encourage others you could even contact your local authority and ask for their help with organizing a blood donation event.

  1. Shop local

If you do your shopping in local shops, you are supporting your neighbors and your local economy, and investing in your local community. When you buy from a small local shop, you’re actually supporting their families, their dreams, and making them smile. Also, in local shops you can find many unique items you won’t find in the big chain stores.

  1. Organize a clean up

All you need to hold a successful clean-up is a big box of garbage bags and recycling bags, a substantial supply of rubber gloves, a group of friends or volunteers, and a location that needs a little TLC. These days most public parks, beaches, and neighborhood streets are in need of a little helping hand, and sometimes people just need a little inspiration to encourage them to help out. Also, you can sell the recyclable items to local dealers to raise money for local organizations.

As you can see, there are many ways to give back to your community. If you have some more ideas, don’t hesitate to share them with us. Don’t forget to follow our Instagram and other social media platforms.
