Ten Coffee Brewing Techniques

  1. Espresso Machine : Espresso machines have been making coffee for us since 1901. There are a bunch of models on the market, but the basic principal is the same; pressurized water is pushed through a chamber or ‘puck’ of finely ground coffee beans, through a filter, resulting in what we call a shot of espresso.
  2. French Press : Super easy to use and cheap enough to buy with your pocket money. Large pressed coffee and hot water are placed in French Press, which is one of the most practical types of coffee brewing equipment. After the coffee is brewed for as long as you wish, you can make the coffee ready to pour by pushing down the cane holding the filter.
  3. Moka Pot : A cheaper solution to drink espresso. The magic behind the Moka pot is in its 3-chambered brew process. Water in the bottom chamber boils, and the steam creates pressure that pushes the water up through the coffee grounds into the top chamber.
  4. Aeropress : It’s one of the fastest ways to make coffee. This 3-piece coffee brewer works as follows; the right water temperature, the right level of air pressure and the right size grind leaves you with an excellent tasting coffee in a matter of minutes.

  5. Soft Brew : A relatively new invention like the French Press, but it’s easier. It has simple written all over it: fill the Softbrew stainless steel filter with ground coffee, add your hot water, let it steep for 4-8 minutes and then serve. Just like a teapot.
  6. Coffee Bags : These were derived from instant coffee, which most people will agree tastes pretty bad. Coffee bags are the tastier solution; ground coffee in a filter bag is plunged straight into your hot water, and you have your brew. You can buy your bags or make them yourself.
  7. Siphon : This is a unique way to brew coffee, as it is a combination of different brewing methods. It’s not a simple way to brew coffee, in fact it requires an enormous amount of effort and following a specific process, so you may not want to use it daily.
  8. Chemex Brewer : Because of its shape, you get excellent coffee and it has style. It’s easy to use; place your filter on the chemex, add medium ground coffee and pour hot water slowly with a circular motion. The more you practice, the better you’ll get.
  9. Turkish Coffee : As you can see from the name, this coffee boiling method comes from Turkey. Brewing Turkish coffee seems easy, but as with most brewing methods there’s a knack to doing it right. It creates a strong but exceptionally flavorful coffee with a thick foam on top.
  10. Cold Brew : Cold brew is one of the most popular caffeine-infused innovations of our time. In a nutshell, it’s made by slowly dripping cold filtered water through fresh coffee grinds for a very long period of time – often 10 hours or more.
