10 Things You Should Know Before Your 20s
I’m talking to you, generation Z. You’re growing up so quickly in this tech-freak world, with a whole new generation of parents. Blogs, pointless lists and social media are everywhere. Look, even I chose this method to reach you! Here are some important things you should know before ending your teenage days.
- Love yourself
If you didn’t appreciate yourself first, no one else will. You may have thousands of friends, a loving family and amazing people all around you, but no one can love you as much as you do.
Listen to your elders, listen to your teachers, listen to whoever has something to say to you. It can be something negative or positive. Criticism often means you’re doing something right.
- Understand your purpose
Learn more about yourself. Know your passions, know your talents and how to develop them. You’re born for a reason and you need a purpose to live.
- Don’t push yourself to be trendy
Trends are stupid and temporary. Everyone is born different. Rather than fitting in and being boring, be unique and stand out.
By following life through a screen, we’ve started to lose precious things. Unfortunately, reading is one of them. Let’s make a deal. You have 7 teen years – each year try to finish 25 or more incredible books.
- Get outside of your comfort zone
By doing this, you’ll grow as a person. You’ll probably make amazing memories, gain new experiences and grow your confidence.
- Take care of yourself
Your body is your temple, so look after it. Work out, eat well, drink more water, and more importantly, sleep a solid 8-9 hours a day. Your body and mind need to rest.
- Go to university because you want to
Your family puts pressure on you, right? Education is important, but studying and pursuing something you love is even more important. Don’t waste your time on something you don’t love doing. Do something your future self will be proud of.
- Get a job
There is nothing more satisfying than earning your own money. Try to get a job as soon as you can to earn some extra cash, or find an internship in the area you’re interested in and pursue a career.
- Remember; life is short
This is your life and it’s a beautiful ride. It will be full of excitement, love and adventures that you never even imagined you would have. Make mistakes and learn from them. Be proud of your successes.
